  1. la nord-sud

Northern Japan X Southern France. 4 products from 2 of our favorite countries.

Sake brewed in the low temperatures of northern Japan Tōhoku 東北地方 tend to have their own unique character, not unlike nordic wines.

2 sakes, imported by us, made with luxury rice from two superstar low intervention breweries :

  1. Odayaka 穏 Junmai Ginjo 純米吟醸 from Niida Honke 仁井田本家 with a blend of 5 organic rice varieties (shizenmai). The use of white kōji, seldomly used, gets Odayaka to another dimension. The presence of acidity due to the use of shiro-kōji freshens up the palate to make this sake even more poundable and versatile.

  2. Yamagata Masamune 山形正宗1898  Junmai Kimoto 純米生酛 from Mitobe Shuzo 水戸部酒造 with Omachi rice from the fame region of Akaiwa 赤磐. The premium Omachi mixed with the kimoto ancestral method and the medium-hard water gives a sake that is deep, sharp but super elegant.

Two wonderful wines from the legendary domain Casot des Mailloles founded by the equally legendary Alain Castex (now at les Vins du Cabanon) and taken over a few years ago by the talented Jordi Perez. Natural wine in its true essence, created around old school, manual agriculture on the steep vineyards of Banyuls-sur-Mer:

  1. Obreptice 2019: Vermentino grown on altitudes averaging 550 - 600 meters. Tilling is done by horse and “protection of the vineyard with the very moderate use of volcanic sulphur, copper and plant preparations”. Very small yields of  20 hL / ha. No added sulphites for you all of you nerdzzzzz.

  2. ComaX BucoliX 2019: One of the more recent cuvées of Jordi. On the commune of Tarerach, 80% of Syrah and 20% of Roussanne, à la Hermitage. Top notch organic viticulture with no other input in the winery. Peppery, earthy, a real treat with tourtière

Included : 2 sake bottles (720 ml) & 2 wine bottles (750 ml), 3 vegetarian tacos and 1 online pop-up

Price: 210 $ + taxes

Pickup: delivery or pick-up at the restaurant

2. L’extra des fêtes

Drink sought-after juices to celebrate finally saying goodbye to 2020:

  1. Valldolina Tutusaus Cava Brut Nature Reserva : QPR Alert!!! You guys all know how much we love champagne, so we are quite hard to please when it comes to bubbles that are not from northern France. But we can’t say enough good things about this Cava: Certified organic, 24 months sur lattes and without dosage (Brut Nature). The result is precise, with enough complexity to make this wine even more versatile.

  2. Domaine des Ardoisières Argile Blanc 2018: A collab between the spiritual father of low intervention savoyard alpine wines, Michel Grisard, and Brice Omont, the Domaine des Ardoisières is a passion project revolving around bringing a forgotten wine region back to its glory days. The 2018 vintage has been quite good for this alpine terroir. Sharp but voluptuous, with this “rock water” typicity as the RVF would put it.

  3. Envinate Migan 2018: On the volcanic terroirs of the Canary islands, from 100-year-old vines of Listan Negro, produced by the most hyped spanish winemaker quartet of recent years, this red deserves all the excitement it generates.
